Question by rachelinjapan24: What’s the funniest thing someone did when they saw your tattoo?
I have a big, half sleeve tattoo on my right arm. Living in Japan I have a lot of funny things happen when people see it, but today I had TWO! First I whizzed passed an old lady on my bike and when she saw me she exclaimed to herself in Japanese “wow, a foriegner with a tattoo!” But I mean, she literally screamed it she was so surprised.
Then I was at the Family Mart this evening looking at the dessert section when I noticed someone in my personal space bubble. I thought it was roommate trying to freak me out, but I turned around and there was this guy with his face like an inch away from my arm, studying it intently. I smiled at him, expecting he would say something, but he only continued his study. I looked at his girlfriend, and she just shrugged. Then he walked off mumbling something I couldn’t understand to her.
So, what do people do when they see your tattoo?

Whelp my Nana saw it at she thought I had dirt or something (I guess) Because next thing I know ,while I am washing the dishes,& she is talking about Papa cheating at gin rummy She has a rag to my arm rubbing it …. Trying to get off the dirt I think…It was so funny. I was laughing when I relized what was going on and she finnaly stop and steped back and was looking at me like “What?” I tried as calmly as I could to let her know It wasn’t coming off..She was like “well why not.?” I said ” Nana, it is a tatoo” She sai in a whisper “Good girls can get though now?” I said yes Nana good girls have them too now….

Question by parachute: What is the big deal about getting some ink?
I have my first tattoo about two weeks ago and I love it. I plan on getting more, and loving them as well. Now, the main reason I hear people agrue against it is “you will regret it when you are old.” Who decided that having a tattoo as an older person looks trashy? Also, do you realize HOW MANY of my generation will have tats and be listening to rap and heavy metal when we are like 80? You ever think about that? And, I know body’s change for the worse as they age, but your body is going to look shitty all around anyways. And, mine are not going to be all over my face or something, and I don’t plan on prancing around in my bikini when I am 80 and wrinkly! I have many pericings as well. I say live with no regrets, because if you were able to take something back, maybe you wouldn’t be the same person you are today. Well…I guess I am just sick of the “anti-tattoo” folk. Anyone agree with me?
Wait until I get fat and old? All you’ve done is go back to the exact point I was rebutting. Weren’t you listening?
Also, tat’s can be touched up. I plan to take care of mine so they continue to look great through the years.
